Hi Folks, Anyone know why my macbook / Audacity version 2.3.0 does not recognise a "capture" cassette player plugged in to the USB port? Aloha JohnY

Is it possible that the tape deck is passing both the audio from the cassette and audio from the deck's microphone to Audacity? Would that explain why I'm getting both tape audio and room noise on the recording in Audacity?

What amounts to "a fortune"?

A Behringer UCA-202 will convert analog audio to USB. It costs around $30 and is reliable. A used cassette deck will run $50 to $100.
