Re. MediaInfo On second thoughts it probably won't help very much as in a "normal" .VOX files the data is encoded and there is no information within the file to indicate how it has been encoded, so unless an application is explicitly told ...

Files seemingly intact. No audio

... file is there, but there is NO sound. Any ideas as to what could have gone wrong, and more importantly, how (if!) I can retrieve the audio? All help gratefully received. Cheers, Andrew

... Drag the whole audacity folder to the trash. Restart Audacity and it should start from First Birthday -- when you first installed it. Did that help? Koz

... If not it will probably be best to install "padevchooser" and "pavumeter" (available through Synaptic) as these will help you to configure PulseAudio correctly.
