I discovered the same problem. Ubuntu 10.10 on Asus netbook with 1G memory, using the Remix version of 10.10. I removed unity but that did not help. (I only removed that app using Synaptic, to do as little damage as possible. Did not do the "autoremove" suggested above.) At least I ...

... I converted & I need to get it to work on all the rest of my tapes so I can convert them aswell.Does anyone have a fix for me????? PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! cause I don't know what to do to get this darn Audacity program to work right again

I notice that there is still a fair amount of hum on the recording. DO you have any simple advice to help solve this problem? The hum is definitely not on the phone line. Do you have a tutorial on removing unwanteed hum from recordings? My mains hum remover plug-in here ... ...

What is wrong with the file?

It's a 7 minute, MPEG-4 file, and whenever I import it, it plays at a speed of about 3 minutes per second. I've tried, but I can't quite figure out how to fix this, help!
