... it should be easy to batch convert them to other format using mplayer/mencoder. You should be able to find rpm packages of it for fedora. I can help you with the syntax if you have any trouble.

The drivers should be supplied by the motherboard manufacturer if possible. Realtek do have generic drivers on their site but that would be second-best ...

What operating system are you using and which version of Audacity? (look in "Help menu > About Audacity" for the full version number)

If it's a desktop computer, you should be able to find the Stereo Line-In connection. It's normally blue and it has the fan symbol with the arrow pointing in.
