Recording Sterio on Audacity 1.3

... in a loop back cable" option but this doues not work for stereo either. I am happy to buy an external sound card as long as it will work. Any help would be much appreciated. I have tried freecorder but it does not do the same job as Audacity as no editing can be done. Thank you.

confused about stereo/mono imports

Hey guys,
I've been importing mp3's into audacity, and sometimes the audio shows up as mono while other times it's stereo. I was wondering how that works out, because the audio quality gets ruined if it randomly chooses to turn it into a mono track.
Any help appreciated, thanks~

... ogg vorbis are on default by the way. Should I turn up the bitrate? Or has it something to do with the AC3 48kHz -> downsampling rate? Thx for any help

adding plugins

I'm having trouble adding pulgins into audacity. I read the instructions on here and downloaded the files and put them into the audacity plugins folder. I am only able to download .ny files though (no idea what these are). I thought I needed .dll files for plugins.....Help is much appreciated. thanks
