... in Audacity through a built in computer microphone - is it a laptop computer? Which exact version of Audacity are you using? (look in the Help menu > About Audacity) If it is lower than 1.3.13, I'd recommend that you upgrade to 1.3.13 before we go further: http://audacityteam.org/download/

... (about 5 seconds) and then post to the forum 1) the original 5 seconds, and 2) the same 5 seconds after Audacity has added noise. It will probably help a lot if we can hear what the problem is.

Windows comes out of the box these days set for video and audio conferencing, pretty much the exact opposite of the settings you need for theatrical recording.

AUP isn't a sound file. It's a Project management text file.
To get a sound file, you need to Export one.
Select five or six seconds of simple sound and then noise by itself. File > Export > FLAC files. Attach that to your posting.
