Re: Help with audio quality
FYI, now when I try to use the noise removal, i am hearing sort of a high pitched clinking in the background. Sounds worse than the actual light noise that was there before. I have it on the lowest setting so clearly that's not the issue. Noise removal is a violin. Good in trained hands. It is requ...

Re: Help with audio quality
That's what you mean when you say set to 50hz. But I'm not sure where I'd set the "rolloff" of 24 db...where would i find that? They should all be on the same panel... Screen shot 2011-04-27 at 1.00.00 PM.png You are in Audacity 1.3, right? Mixers generally don't bother with 50 Hz. Nobody...

Re: Help with audio quality
USB cords normally work or don't work. That hasn't been our experience at all. We do group conferencing and people keep insisting on using USB microphones on extensions in the middle of a 5000 foot long conference room table. The result is "holes" and hash in the voice, not complete failu...

Re: Help with audio quality
It sounds to me like the microphone is picking up environmental noise. There is lots of sub-sonic stuff there (below 20 Hz). It benefits from application of the High Pass Filter with frequency 50 Hz and rolloff of 24 dB. Do you have a shock mount for the microphone? Audio Technica sells a shock moun...

Removing background noise while retaining foreground vocals
... very important interview in the middle of a busy Starbucks is a bad thing for the transcriptionist. I had a tip that Audacity might be able to help me remove/limit all of the background noise (other conversations, laughing, dishes clinking, et cetera), while retaining the integrity/clarity ...
