... recording, you also have to click Transport > Software Playthrough in Audacity so that it has a checkmark. There is a Manual built into 1.3.13 at Help > Manual (in web browser). Gale

Noise removal not working in Windows 7
... to remove, then go through the various options in the NOISE REMOVAL dialog box to remove the hiss etc. this is driving me nuts. Hope someone can help! thanks steve

You've posted in the Audacity 1.3 part of the forum. Are you really using Audacity 1.3? (check in the Help menu > About Audacity).
If you're not using Audacity 1.3.13, try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13. You can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
