HP Pavilion dv6 Windows 7 64 --- clean install of audacity 1.3.13beta --- works perfectly well with integrated devices --- shows Samson mic active on input monitoring (mono) --- but does not record signal from mic -- can anyone help please.... thanks in advance

... you wish. When you start recording the recorded data will go there instead of the temp folder. In case of a system crash during recording this can help to more easily recover the recorded data after the crash.

I opened an existing stereo track and removed vocals from it.
I want to put my vocals there.. But when i plug in the mic and click on the recording button, my voice doesn't get recorded.
It only records the vocal-removed-track again.
Please help me out.

... bottom of the page, what about a real time gauge showing the length of the recording? As I edit recordings to fit them to CDs, it would be a great help to have a feature like this to see what pause sizes need cutting and such as this as I am going. Thank you for the great work! David

Help! When I record from a cassette tape using my Audacity TAPE2USB II that's hooked up to my computor (using USB), I'm piking up background noises. I turned off the microphone button on the unit but I'm still piking up background noise. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Could you specify which file contains frequency analysis? I need algorithm to implement in my program. Or is there any document to help me write spectrum analysis functions like those? Or is there any way to embedded audacity frequency analysis in my program?
