Thanks Steve. Yes, it is 1.3.14 I was talking about in the my original post above. I mentioned 1.3.13 only as it was also a zip file that works fine for me, so I didn't think the 'zip' part was the problem. I read the link you provided. I bit confusing for me, but these files... ... reason Windows sometimes substitutes the wrong ones. This is not a common problem, but thanks to your feedback I'm now in a better position to help anyone else that has this problem.

Strange noise

Hi

When I press the record button on Audacity there is a strange booming noise which cancels out any chance of making a recording. i have re-installed audacity and also tried with and without my turntable connected . Is it something to do with my computer. Thanks in anticipation of your help.
