... the behringer installer as well as the asio but i really cant record anything in audacity. My laptop is a sony vaio win7 64bit. Pls guys, help me on this one.

The mic is an audio technica AT 20/20 USB.
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 1501 (laptop) running
windowsXP, Media Center Edition, Service pack 3.
My version of Audacity is 1.2.6.

Which version of Audacity are you using?
(please look in "Help > About Audacity" and quote the FULL version number)

Is there a visible waveform on the recorded track?
Do other things play in Audacity?
If you ar really using Audacity 1.2.x you should probably upgrade to Audacity 1.3.14 http://audacityteam.org/download/

Thanks for the info - I was able to recover my files. I know you posted your problem a while ago, but thought my experience might help... you didn't indicate whether you had found some properly sized files on your card, or whether the files were 0KB in size. I was recording to wav format, ...
