Use Audacity 1.3.14 (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )
Connect the Tascam before you launch Audacity.
Connect your headphones to the Tascam.
Set the recording and playback devices to the USB option using the Device Toolbar

Do you have any other computers you can try the interface with? It would not be necessary to have the turntable connected, ...

So are you saying that you can plug-in your keyboard to the computer sound card and everything is OK, but if you then unplug the keyboard and plug in the guitar then there is a delay?

That's why I don't understand, I don't feel like I'm doing anything different. Nothing else is hooked up when I use the keys. I actually have unplugged from it to plug a guitar in and the delay is still there. The alesis is a qs8.2 workstation. The adapter is just a radioshak 1/4 to 1/8 or whatever ...
