OK, First off, close Audacity and then reopen it and look in "Help > About Audacity" and ensure that you really are using Audacity 1.3.14 (Unicode). Then, assuming that you are, go back to my previous post: Try this: Open Audacity Click on the "Help ...

... shape or form to anything other than audacity. Thus, since I have gotten my MAC in late december, I have been unable to send out any auditions. HELP! I think I am going to have to give in and purchase a software that I'm unfamiliar with.

... give you more information about what is wrong. Don't save the project in 1.3.14 though until you have the problem sorted out. If you want some help, post the .aup file so we can see it ("Upload attachment" underneath where you post). Gale

... I retrieve last night's work and there are parts of my recording there are silenced out - just a straight bar where once there was sound .... HELP!!! I've got goods to make! it worked once! thanks all

Thanks so very much. Saving this in case it happens again.

What I resorted to - and it worked! - was saving the file, shutting down Audacity, and reopening it. Pshew. Project resumed.

Yeah that happened to me, too. If you hover over the left edge of the waveforms, your cursor will change into a + magnifier. Press/hold Shift and it will change into a - and reduce the vertical size of the waves. Stop when you get to 1 up and 1 down.
