You should be able to pause in the middle of a recording. Just click on the pause button or press the "P" key. Click the Pause button again (or press the "P" key again) to resume the recording. Alternatively you can stop the recording (press the Stop button or press the spacebar)...

Why can't I pause when I am recording a cassette? When I listen to the play back on the pc, then it pauses. I can't turn my cassette over that fast. So I end up with a long time between side one and two!! I am new at this, and not very good with electronics. Can someone help please? Thank you.

I have a HP laptop with Vista. I want to record 33rpm records. I don't know too much about what else can be recorded. What other information do you need that would help?

I have connected a guitar to the micrphone input (front) of my laptop.
when i hit a note it has a lag time of approx 1sec. before I hear it in the speakers.
however the the input levels show that the note is being played in real time. only the sound lags about a second.

I know this and it realy never gets to the right place. So I always just copy the Second file and Past it at the end of the First file. This way it goes right at the right spot. But I thought the new verson would let you open the first file and the import as many files as you want at the end of the ...

In Audacity 1.3.14 there is a low-pass filter in the Effect menu (bottom half of the menu).
