I would like to slow down the ending of a track over 4-5 seconds to give the effect of a vinyl record being switched off so the track grinds to a halt. I've tried various ways in Audacity without success.

What is the exact version number of Audacity that you are using? (look in "Help > About Audacity"). "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" is the most recent effect to be added to Audacity so you may be using an early experimental version of the effect. ...

What programming language?
