Thanks very much for all your help and advise.
I have found, on some trials I did that my pc stops recording after about 2 hours so I may have to try some of your other suggestions (not the moving though).

Merge files and keep track tags

If you do produce the track in a separate program, you might run into sync problems. The sample rates for most video is 48000, not 44100 (Music CD standard). ... but don't know how to. I have audacity 2.0. It does record from youtube but it also records all other noise from the room i'm in. could anyone help?

You can use Effect > AutoDuck to reduce the music volume when someone speaks.

When you have edited the audio, export it from Audacity in a format that is compatible with windows movie maker, the import the audio file into windows movie maker.
