... the playback was previously stopped, if it's a .m4b file but not for an .m4a. The file encoding is, AFAIK, exactly the same. Thanks again for your help.

As far as no sound comming out of the speaker NOW, it sounds like you have them MUTED. open the speakers and check to see if the MUTE is checked. hook up the USB and make sure that the computer sees the turntable. if it does not then Audacity will not either

Thanks Steve, did all that before... But your explanation did help narrow down the problem to the cheap junk imitation Behringer Device. The Windows Sound Recorder works OK with the Headphone & Mike using the onboard sounds as default. When I make the ...

Most USB devices like this one announce themselves as bi-directional devices. When Windows encounters one of these, it naturally assumes it has to record from, and play to the device. Help--I'm new to this and so confused
... speaker icon; it shows that the speakers are the default. I am using the most current version of Audacity (2.02), Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Can anyone help me to get my sound back and then to record my old 78s. Thanks, Kathy

Exact same as above. Sorry, again I am very new to this and the help section uses jargon and phrases that I'm not familiar with. Do I need to set up my playback and recording to something other than the pod to do the click track test?

That tutorial didn't help either.
I don't have "Stereo Mix" as an option.
It doesn't explain how to record whatever I hear in my speakers/headphones.

i've a big problem.
i record a file of 6 hours... i export the file in wav... 4.5Gb but when i listen i have only 40 minutes...

Hae made a recording but the speech parts are too fast.... I want to slow down the speech parts so that they slower and deeper in tone....
