Just got a new Windows 8 64byte computer with Beats sound card. Tried Audacity and the recording sounds like it is slow and in a tunnel. I am using the latest version of Audacity. Can someone help me please?

Re: Audacity hangs when Record icon is engaged
I would also recommend adding more RAM. 1GB really isn't enough even for Windows Xp S3. If you could find another stick of ram (Probably DDR1) for a few bucks it'd really help. If it's DDR2 RAM, can buy a 2GB stick for $29 online.

Why is Left Channel Only Recording?
I hit the record button. I see the stereo tracks. Both meters show recording. BUT, on playback I hear left channel only, coming out of both sides. I click on "Audio Track," and see that "Left Channel Only" is the default selection, and is greyed out.

... format is not ANSI. - Or the file extension is hidden and would be in fact "mytest.ny.txt". What says the log file? You'll find it under help, last entry "Show log" If it is a text/character format problem, it will be most probably be listed.

Sorry this is so difficult. Can you restart Audacity, try to locate lame_enc.dll in Preferences then choose Help > Show Log... . Right-click in the log > Select All, right-click again > Copy then paste the log here. Do you have lame.exe (I don't mean lame_enc.dll) in "C:Program ...
