Been using headphones. Output device selected is "Realtek HD audio rear output". Other option is "Primary Sound Driver". Switching does not help. Not using any mixers or interfaces. Just guitar or microphone straight into input.

The rhyme and reason is Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. To get a stand-alone sound file that will play on a lot of different computers you have to File > Export one. A Project is a supervisory file called .aup and a folder of the same name followed by _data. MyShow.aup MyShow_d...

This page should help you find and "un-hide" the settings. By default, some of the recording options are often hidden in Win7.

Hello there, thanks for taking a look.
I brought audio into Audacity in stereo format, but I need it in mono, but when I convert, more than half the audio becomes minimal and almost disappears.
