When song has recorded, i don;t unplug my usb device, i click on new recording then nothing records, restart program nothing happens, i will give try see how it goes i will unplug device and then see what happens Do you unplug the microphone at the end of a song? Audacity only checks for USB microph...

I don't unplug the usb device, after recording I close the program and try to restart it but does record any sound.

Do you unplug the microphone at the end of a song? Audacity only checks for USB microphones when it starts. Plug the microphone in, wait a second and then start Audacity.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording.
Select your USB microphone.

... that, i have to restart the pc every time i do a sound recording, it takes very long time every day after one recording need restart the pc. you help is much appricated.

Thanks for your help but can I have a guitar track and seperately, a vocal track on Audacity. All I'm wanting to do is lay down a guitar track then listen to it on headphones as I lay down a vocal track?

Again, thanks to everyone who responded and/or fiddled with the file. I appreciate it. The original file type should have no influence on the silence cleaner effect. Or are you working with an unusual sample rate? How Long is the file that you try to process? I've just tried it on a 30 min mono-file...

Is there an option in Audacity 2.0.3 to "Play other tracks while recording new one"?
I don't want to overdub. I want to hear my guitar track as I sing on the next track?

Recording your voice isn't easy. Export some of your voice by itself as a high-quality MP3 (256 quality or better) and post it here. We can't judge your microphone if we can't hear it.

... change it do i need to reduce the db's of my sample prior to using the wah wah? i like the very wide sweeps where the effect is most prominet any help would be appreciated thanks
