You are looking at the old Audacity 1.2.x manual.
The manual for the current version is included in the standard Windows download - look in the Audacity Help menu.

... to pin down. If the bug is in the latter then it could also affect other (non-nyquist) effects (I've not tested). A simple repeatable test should help to locate the source of the problem.

The tracks were in fact intentionally damaged and turns out I wasn't really allowed to use any effects in audacity but do the editing by hand (the teacher is really hardcore ), but I managed to get it done. Thanks for your help guys !
