Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in the "Help menu > About Audacity").
Please describe step by step what you are doing that creates the problem.

It's quite easy to see which part of the recording is talking and which part is music - I have labelled this example: tracks000.png To remove the music sections, just select a section that is music, then delete it.
