If you have, that may be the problem:

The audio interface comes with premium ASIO drivers

Audacity as shipped will not see ASIO drivers and may error if those are the only drivers being offered.

Found a copy of a CD burning program that seemed to be using ffmpeg that I didn't use. Removed that and all is working today. Phew!
