I installed on another computer, demuxed the original file and had no problems! Looks like the problem doesn't lie with Audacity. Thx for your help...Feel free to delete this thread if you like.

I downloaded the zip for Audacity 2.05, extracted files and ran Audacity app. Check in Help > About Audacity... for 2.0.5 (two decimal places). If it says 2.05 (one decimal place) then we don't make that version and can't help you with it. My system doesn't seem to ...

... for various instruments, and the instruments are synthesized at playback time. Audacity doesn't support MIDI (and I don't use it, so I can't help you), but with the appropriate software, you may be able to download a MIDI file and edit it to remove the drums.
