... to remove audible silences but that is not really a "solution" if the problem is dropouts in the recording. If you would like more help, please say what input device you are recording from in Device Toolbar and more about the "pages" problem. Gale

... not compatible with WDM-KS. We can't make devices WDM-KS compatible if they are not. Please let me know if you want to try that. Thanks for your help. @Steve if you are reading this, were you in a similar position with some sound device on an XP computer? Gale

... or if it will make the AU files the expected 1 MB each, but if so the project will be silence. :( I don't think file recovery software will help you with that. Assuming from your screenshot that you are on Windows 8 or 8.1, and have File History enabled, you might have copies of the AU files ...

... it used to. I fiddled around with the settings both in Audacity and in Windows and cannot find the solution myself, so I am turning to you all for help. Yeah that would make it a lot easier. Hopefully I won't have to do it on a whole album again. I got broken in on album that just happened to have 30 tracks.

I guess what you really need, to make the job really easy, are two feature:
1) Import clips end-to-end in the same track (a popular request in one form or another).
2) A command to "Label Clips".
