When I unplug the white jack lead from the 'Rec' output on the mixer I lose the recording completely. If I unplug the red cable, the recording is as though both are plugged in.

Any thoughts welcome..!!

You can totally do that. Macs allow one device at a time switching and the play and record sides are independent. Koz

Mac OS X does not offer the Windows WASAPI host for the simple reason that it is not a Windows computer.
