Thanks for that Doug.
When I unplug the white jack lead from the 'Rec' output on the mixer I lose the recording completely. If I unplug the red cable, the recording is as though both are plugged in.
Any thoughts welcome..!!

You can totally do that. Macs allow one device at a time switching and the play and record sides are independent. Koz

... WDM-KS may not be compatible with your device and may cause a computer crash or Audacity freeze. Ensuring you have correct (non-ASIO) drivers may help if a crash or freeze occurs. Gale

I was hoping to be able to listen to what the browser is playing, while recording, without having Audacity record also the external sound of my microphone. It would be helpful to listen what is being recorded to know when to stop the recording. Anyways, if there is no way to isolate the microphone ...

Mac OS X does not offer the Windows WASAPI host for the simple reason that it is not a Windows computer. Apple does not even allow recording the sound as it's playing on the sound card in the way that stereo mix does on Windows. However you can capture the sound before it gets to the sound card usin...
