Both files play fine in iTunes and in WaveAgent (Sound Devices app.) Any suggestions and help greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Thanks. We can't really explain or help further, but "misspelling" a file name does not matter unless you changed the "extension" after the last dot in the file name. You should avoid that - if you know it is an MP3, don't ...

You'll need $oftware with automated de-click and de-crackle , even then it's an extreme-case and parts may be unfixable...
