Re: can hear MIDI but can't record it (reprise)
Thanks for all the help. As a general tip, if you have any pavucontrol windows open, close them before making changes to your set-up. Open pavucontrol when you need it, then close the window. I think that helps - I'd been getting crashes ...

Re: Digitizing vinyl collection
If that doesn't help... Make sure you are not multitasking. Don't run any other applications, and you may have to turn-off background operations such as virus scanning. If you havea laptop, turning-off Wi-Fi is rumored to sometimes ...

Re: Slight change requested at FAQs
... - as this concurs with the original poster's search term. The text "maximum recording time" appears in the FAQ so that should help if a future user searches for that. On reading and re-reading the original post it seems pretty clear to me that the poster was asking how long ...

... the interface just doesn't compare to XP). My next computer's going to be a Windows 7 unit though, so it's inevitable. Anyway, thanks for all the help and the info. Everything's going quite smooth now. Much appreciated.

Re: "Error: Not well-formed" - Can't recover help!
60 minutes seems about right for the number of AU files referenced in the AUTOSAVE. Are you sure you posted the entire log? If not, please do so. Open the "project17231" folder in Explorer and drag 12 of the AU files into Audacity, three from each of the "d" folders to get a good...

Re: Need help with noise removal
One other thing. Do Not under any circumstances save the new, corrected show with the same filename as the old. That process is not foolproof and if anything bad happens you have no show. Full Stop. You get to apply, as the video forum joke goes, the "Reshoot Filter." If you're completely ...

Re: Need help with noise removal
Are you sitting down? I couldn't get any of the normal noise removal tools to work right, so I deleted them one at a time by hand. Assume the first test clip is good enough, the one with the little ting remaining here and there. Import the show onto Audacity. Zoom into the first ting and pop sound. ...
