... not work as smoothly as it should. It looks like Audacity tried the next higher rate only, as if it thinks Saffire supports 32000 Hz. Can you post Help > Audio Device Info... from Audacity? However if you have chosen to set Saffire on 96000 Hz then you should have Audacity project rate on 96000 ...

... Audacity will try to open up advanced sound files it doesn't really understand. That can give you chipmunk voices. Install the FFMpeg software to help with that. You can have a much more serious problem with a computer not running fast enough for good recordings. That can give you chipmunk voices, ...

It doesn't take 20 seconds to test your connections. Audacity has a diagnostic tool. The right-hand, recording sound meters are red (while they're working).
