Re: help removing crackle (not a constant background noise)

You can't fix that with noise reduction. Something is clipping (or otherwise distorting), and it is happening before the audio gets to Audacity. Zoom into the waveform around 2.53 seconds and you can see it.

Describe your recording chain in detail, from microphone to computer.

help removing crackle (not a constant background noise)

Can someone please tell me how to remove a crackle from my sermon audio recording?

It is not a constant background crackle but is only present when I am speaking (in other words there is no place where I can isolate it and make a noise profile).

the sample is attached

Poor quality recording--sounding like in a tin can

... Sometimes it was wonderful and sometimes I sounded like I was in a tin can. Sometimes it would even cut in and out. I came to this forum for help and was told it was probably a software conflict. I had recently installed the program for GOTOMEETINGS, so I immediately uninstalled it. I was ...

... and then all of a sudden I opened up a new Audacity window and it wouldn't let me record with the mic anymore and kept giving me the error. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Apple Effect Plug-in not Working in OS X 10.10 beta 2

Thanks, sorry for raising your hopes about audacity.cfg but the other person has confirmed also that resetting audacity.cfg does not help. If you are sill using Yosemite, do Audio Units load in GarageBand or any other audio editor? If not, then I don't think Audacity needs to be concerned. ...

MXL V67GS mic not recording at full volume, ideas?

... but it sits in a room with soundproofing panels and from what I know, not too much moisture. I do like this mic and was wondering if anyone could help out? I've also heard putting the mic in some rice to extract potential moisture may help? It's only been used maybe 8-10 times with mic popper ...

Re: Recording audio from sound card

Problem solved: I can easily use WASAPI for recording streaming audio from my sound card, but in order to avoid the distortion I only had to switch off the "Playthrough" option under "Preferences" - "Recording" menu.
That;s all!

Thanks for all help!
