You can't fix that with noise reduction. Something is clipping (or otherwise distorting), and it is happening before the audio gets to Audacity. Zoom into the waveform around 2.53 seconds and you can see it.

Can someone please tell me how to remove a crackle from my sermon audio recording?

It is not a constant background crackle but is only present when I am speaking (in other words there is no place where I can isolate it and make a noise profile).

Thanks, sorry for raising your hopes about audacity.cfg but the other person has confirmed also that resetting audacity.cfg does not help. If you are sill using Yosemite, do Audio Units load in GarageBand or any other audio editor? If not, then I don't think Audacity needs to be concerned. ...

... but it sits in a room with soundproofing panels and from what I know, not too much moisture. I do like this mic and was wondering if anyone could help out? I've also heard putting the mic in some rice to extract potential moisture may help? It's only been used maybe 8-10 times with mic popper ...

Problem solved: I can easily use WASAPI for recording streaming audio from my sound card, but in order to avoid the distortion I only had to switch off the "Playthrough" option under "Preferences" - "Recording" menu.
