I am trying to retrieve an audio file that I have missed because of my zoom recorder being unplugged during a shoot. The file shows up as 0 KB. I have made an image of the whole card as a dmg file, imported to audacity as a raw media, and have been able to read some of the audio files that are hidde...

... noise removal, only on top of sound. is there any remedy? I am using Audacity 1.3.12-beta (perhaps sorely outdated?). thanks in advance for any help, i'm a layperson and relative newbie to this.

You should be able to adjust the compressor to help that. Have you tried the "Compress Based On Peaks" setting? There's also "Limiter" and "Hard Limiter," but I'm not sure which ones come with Audacity. Some of those ...

... that? It's insanely handy in diagnosing sound problems. Windows has Special Effects like Cathedral Sound, etc. as well as Enhanced Services to help you with Skype or other conferencing. Another thing a lot of people are also saying it sounds quiet and muffled.
