copy and paste the URL into a website called http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ to convert the song into an MP3 file, which I then download and open in Audacity.
So that step failed. Instead of opening the MP3 download in Audacity, try opening it in Windows Media.

There are free multi-platform programs called PhotoRec and TestDisk which can recover data from corrupted SD cards , (try PhotoRec first , despite the name it's not limited to recovering photos).

AUDACITY FLATLINING - HELP!

... to play it, there was also no sound. I have no idea why this has suddenly happened - it doesn't make any sense. It was working fine before. Any help or advice on how to fix this problem would be very greatly appreciated - thanks!

"unzipped it and copied it into program files 86, audacity, plugins. then edit preferences, effects rescan when restart. (I also put it in program files)"

I couldn't find any vst folder. Where should I put gsnap?
