Re: Need help with extreme noise removal/voice recovery
I think the sample I'm providing has at least the young female voice in it. We can't do forensics. If you're in the "I think there's a voice there" territory, you're way beyond anything we can do. You should start planning what you would do if you had no show. The clip has very odd soundi...

Re: Recording to PC from mixer board - recording OK; no play
Hello again! I was finally able to try your suggestion of switching out the lines in the headphone (green jack). Nothing seems to help. I can right click on the sound icon in the taskbar (next to the clock) and open the Playback Devices, and then right click on the playback device listed ...
Re: Manual
I have found a suitable way to have the manual viewable when using Audacity. Found a website with the Audacity manual, have put in my browser favourites and can now switch between Audacity and the manual. Not the ideal solution but it works fine. Thanks for help and sorry for your time!

No sound imputting

ffmpeg installed but can't be located
... (it originally defaulted to .52, so I tried that as well, but still no dice). In both cases, FFmpeg library remains "not found". Any help resolving this would be appreciated. I am using this on a mid-2014, MBPr 13", 2.8 i5, 8gb, running 10.10 (could this last be part of the problem?).

Re: Help With Vocal Audio Clip
You can counter the room resonance (the "wineglass" effect) to some degree using the Equalization effect. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/equalization.html The reverberation can also be reduced using a "trick" that Robert J H mentioned right at the start of this topic - usin...

Re: PC Volume balance gets reset on Audacity startup
... setting. Now this is interesting, Windows WASAPI did not reset my balance settings. Great! I never thought it would matter. Woohoo! Can you open Help > Audio Device Info... top right of Audacity and post the information from there? Here you go. ============================== Default capture device ...

Re: Help With Vocal Audio Clip
I think this might be a 'wine glass effect' situation.
I should have posted a link a long time ago.

Re: Help With Vocal Audio Clip
I'm thinking the returned echo will always have a certain characteristic - certain frequencies bouncing back very strongly. You can process a small room that way. That's "honking" or talking into a wine glass effect where the echo has a strong pitch personality — the walls in the room rin...
