... if I could keep the vocals and throw away the remainders (just the opposite of what the karaoke function) was developed to accomplish. This would help isolate the voice in some masked subliminals where the message is overpowered by higher decibel sounds. This is a lower priority item on my list ...

Lost Half My Finished Exported Project.
... and it's fine. I tried the Recovery Utility and looked through my audacity_temp folder but nothing was there. I thought Audacity autosaved? Please help I have version 2.0.5 and have Windows 7 64-bit.

Really appreciate the help, and I guess I will just use noise removal from now on, and maybe get an XLR mic.
But I have one more question, do XLR to USB products like Blue Icicle will it actually have interference problems like a normal USB microphone?

... is not brilliant, but I could prob do some Beatle song Next Id want to lay down a guitar over that Finally put vocals over the top. Can audacity help ? For eg Id need to listen to the piano track on headphones and then play guitar into audacity .... is that going to be possible ?

... If your show requires the soft sound then we can work with it, but if you have a "reach the back row of the auditorium" voice that will help the signal to noise ratio considerably. For the volume controls I'd recommend setting the slider in the windows mixer panel to the maximum. Then ...
