Thank you for the added suggestions. I will give those a try. I think they're right on track... I've made a bit of progress on my own as well. First of all, this doesn't seem to be a Yosemite problem after all. I switched to a different machine using Mavericks and experienced the exact same problem....

You have started to record your laptop built-in microphone instead of your device or dedicated connection. You can change that with your Audacity Device Toolbar. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html If you're using a USB microphone or device, remember Audacity may forget about it...

Unfortunately no...I deleted the old files yesterday before I started re-recording the project. :( I appreciate all of your help to try and resolve this! I wish I would have thought ahead enough to have kept the file so that it could be gone over to make sure something crazy didn't happen, ...

When recording from device laptop hears playback! Help

... picking up all sounds from device, even the clicking of buttons, when I'm not in Audacity. I've spent 90 mins going through online manual with no help, so this is my last resort. Really hoping someone can help. Matt
