Most functions are disabled while playing, recording, or paused.
Ensure that playback is "stopped" (not just paused) before trying to edit.

Need Help Editing Song

Hello

I am trying to edit an intro of a song I bought for my podcast. Nothing is working. It will not let me cut and edit. Please help with simple instructions for my simple mind. Thank you!

Did you install Audacity according to the directions on the download page ? Are you running it from the DMG (you shouldn't)? See This help message at the top of this forum. Are you trying to save the project to the DMG? What is the exact error message? What version of Audacity and what version ...

need help to find/save file [SOLVED]

... I also don't want to just quit and lose it. Is there a place I can find the file? I spend so much time trying to figure this out.... Thank you for help! Maybe I should start with a project or something instead of just starting recording, but the music is there, it just doesn't let me save it

URGENT DEADLINE: unable to locate DATA folder... anywhere

... am completely unable to locate. It may be that I have to re-associate the data file and the aup file, but am unable to locate EITHER. Any and all help is appreciated. Let me know if there is any more information you need. Thanks.

Adjusting Levels - I am at my wits end!

... noted, using the sliders makes no difference whatsoever. And adjusting volume and microphone levels in the control panel doesn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would very much like to copy some of my old vinyl, but this is getting frustrating to say the least....

Stopping Recording and Starting again on same track

... if i stop recording, press record again ... the second recording record the first recording. I'm super confused what I am doing wrong. Any help for someone who has been trying to read through many links for th past hour with no success would be most appreciative

EDIT - Gale beat me to it! ...but I don't know how to then replace the existing audio in the video with my new, edited audio. That's normally done with a video editor. I use Corel Video Studio (currently $64 USD). Microsoft Movie Maker (FREE) might be able to do it, or maybe Avidemux (FREE). Video ...

I get the error message that says (paraphrased) "This is a video file. Audacity cannot currently open this type of file. You need to extract the audio to a supported format." Audacity does not edit video. You can install FFmpeg then let Audacity extract the audio from the video to its int...
