Re: it starts playing when i add markers
... I can give it a go. If there is not much you can now do yourself on the Manual pending code review or decisions to be made, you and others can help if you were able to answer some more user questions on the Forum so I can spend less time here. And the fewer "future planning discussions" ...

Problems playing vinyl from standalone turntable - W&
I've spent an hour on Google and looking at the Audacity help section and don't seem to be making much progress. I used Audacity a number of years ago to convert vinyl records to digital format. This was with a Dell Dimension 8300 pc running Windows ...

How to record from Rythmbox?
I can record from line-in after configuring my soundcard for input. That works fine.
However, when I play internet radio via Rythmbox, how can I get the sounds I hear into Audacity?
I tried the recording device menu, without success.
Thanks for any help,
ulrich

Re: Help with voice isolation
Just as a little experiment:
- center isolation (2D Stereo Toolkit, very narrow center)
- noise gate -15 dB threshold, 60 dB reduction
The music will still be audible during speech and there are also drum hits inbetween that have to be removed manually (Ctrl-L silences a selection)

Re: Help with voice isolation
I don't think that it is worth the effort.
It is hardly more than a mono file (87 % correlation).
Neither helps Noise Reduction to remove the music.
It would be better to record all anew. The special sounds can of course be reused (they are quite isolated in the beginning).

Re: Help with voice isolation
i saw something like this done on another post, but i have no idea how they did it. (viewtopic.php?p=137251#p137251) I gave a brief description of what I did in this post: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=137251#p137251 Trebor used "knockout" in his attempt: http://forum.auda...

... on the same computer? If so, see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html If you need further help, please state which version of Windows you are using and the exact three-section version of Audacity from Help > About Audacity.
