Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
... Quality Control with that odd voice tone and fading. This clip is the poster child for sound processing that Windows has in Version 7 and 8 to help you with conferencing. Conferencing voices don't have to be pretty, they just have to work. ACX has to be pretty, too. Which Windows do you have ...

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
I'm assuming that noise at 9 seconds is you dropping something on the table. Hopefully.

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
Pearl Harbor Correction Do this to the clip to make sure we get the same results. You will need to install Steve's special voice filter into the Equalization tool. Your microphone does something really wacky down in the earthquake tones and Steve takes care of it nicely. Select the whole clip by cl...

... hear the audio or if you have any more suggestions? I don't know what to do, but take advantage of it working well at the moment. Thanks for the help.

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
Here is the corrected clip. As near as I can tell, it's ACX Compliant and without a whole lot of work. You need to tell us how you're shooting this when you get done. I'm making the recipe.

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
I think the Pearl Harbor clip is close enough. The -6 recording thing is a worthy goal not a law. Nobody is going to come out with a stick and hit you if you go a little over. DO NOT go all the way up to 0. We picked -6 as a good compromise between overload (too high), noise (too low) and theatrical...

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
Oh hey--that screen in front of the mic in the picture in this thread--does that help the noise floor or just the harsh letters?

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
Ok--this one is better.
I saw your other post about making the monitor part way bigger and was able to modulate my voice. However, it does bounce slightly over -6 a couple of times. Here's a better clip.
Is there a way to put that as a ceiling?
Thanks!
Matt

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
Hello again!
Ok, I went into the closet. I put up some stuff and made it quiet. Can you please check this sample now for noise floor.
However, I do not know about this overload stuff. I read the links you sent but I don't have any effects or anything.
