... ambient noise so it may not be a problem. If a lower gain setting encourages you to speak in a stronger voice and get closer to the mic, that may help. If you installed from the dmg, these tutorial will also be available via the Audacity "Help menu > Quick Help".

Were you editing a copy of the original sound file? Can't you go back to the copy and pick up where you left off?
How many tracks and how long was the show in minutes? Had you gotten to save at least one Project before it crashed? Did you save a Project before you started editing?
