Re: Hopelessly Idiotic - Dictaphone Help!
Many thanks. I managed to get the old version of Audacity working but, as you say, the recording's awful. I don't suppose you know of any software that could enhance the quality?

Re: Help with Behringer UCA222
Try it with "Host" set to MME and the recording device set to "BEHRINGER USB WDM". Make a test recording. If it records a "flat line" (silence), try applying the Amplify effect. That should tell you whether it really is "silence" or just recording at a very lo...

Re: Help with Behringer UCA222
I downloaded and installed the x64 USB audio drivers from the Behringer website (and also the ASIO4All drivers) - Windows (x64) didn't recognise it until I did. The UCA222 shows up as a recording device in the Windows Sound panel, and the sound meter registers a signal from it when I strum the guita...

Re: Help with Behringer UCA222
My UCA202 didn't come with any software. It just worked out of the box. Which software did you install?
Go into the Win7 control panels and find your device. It might say something like "USB Audio Codec." My Win7 has little sound meters and I can see my sounds there. Can you?

Re: Hopelessly Idiotic - Dictaphone Help!
You need to set the "recording input" in the device toolbar to the device that you want to record from. That may be called "line in" or "mic in" or something else, but NOT "Sound Mapper". This may not work very well - it depends on your sound card. For many la...

Hopelessly Idiotic - Dictaphone Help!
Hi all, I used to use an old version of Audacity and managed to get it to copy my Dictaphone recordings, but can I make it work now?? It's been quite a long time, I admit. I'm now on a W8.1 laptop and am using, I assume, the latest version of Audacity: 2.1.0. How do I stop my laptop's own mic from r...

Modern Windows machines try to help you out by automatically adding effects and filters to both. The recording pathway may have Microsoft Enhanced Services applied and last time I ...
