... can "read" the tape deck, with the RCA cord. So my next questions would have to do with how to set the Rec levels. Thanks for your help

Cut and Paste Waveforms Among Different Tracks
... in text mode only --- no music, no singing, no instrucments, no double tracks for any reason -- only one person reading very boring news. Please help me with this issue: In Audacity I wish to cut a chunk of Waveform from one track and paste it into another, just as if the two tracks were different ...

Re: Another newbie needs help with USB Tape Deck
You can close Audacity for a while. It gets its sound from the Mac. If the Mac can't find the player (System Preferences), that's the end of the story.

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
I'm back from the bank. I mean I'm back from shopping. I figured out the graph. Note the Size setting on yours is 512 and mine is 16384. My setting lets you see more of the purple pattern below (to the left) of 100Hz. That's where Steve's LF_rolloff filter does it job, so it's good to see it working...

Choppy audio when recording

... input. So the problem probably begins here. Hope this is clear. And yes, I did set the USB Audio CODEC as the input in Audacity. Thanks for your help so far.

Re: Another newbie needs help with USB Tape Deck
Let's step back and make sure that the tape deck is communicating with the Mac. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Select the USB Audio CODEC, which should be the tape deck. Play a tape. Does the sound meter show an input being received? If not, we need to figure out what's wrong...

Another newbie needs help with USB Tape Deck
I'm running Audacity 2.1.0 on a 2011 iMac running 10.10.3 Yosemite. I am trying to record from a Tape2USB deck. I have followed the instructions for set-up, usb out to usb port on computer, USB Audio CODEC on the input, and USB Audio CODEC highlighted in System Preferences, Sound, Input. I press the...

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
I'm fascinated that your spectrum analysis doesn't look anything like mine. It's rough to tell you to make corrections when we're not looking at the same thing. I need to go away for a while. I'm typing this on a dead run on the way out to the car. Are you using Audacity 2.1.0? Yes, I just checked ...

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
Koz, could you please look at my graph in the file attached below--does it look okay? That is, within parameters for an audio book? Thank you for the graphic. We can't tell directly from the graphic. That's just a confirmation that your corrections seemed to go OK. We have to run tests on your samp...
