Hey!

Okay i'm just so confused about how it's malfunctionating after a few weeks of no usage. I'll try the alcohol cleaning method you mentioned! I'll be reporting the results after it, but thanks for the quick help, i really appreciate it! :)

Thanks to all for ideas and help, especially cyrano. As long as I kept the computer from going into sleep mode by opening other windows, checking email, etc. Audacity continued to record the entire sequence without a glitch.

... level reduction, should you set that to -48 or to -96 dB? Does it 'add' -48 dB to the -48 dB of the threshold? Or is it separate? Thanks for the help.

... a noise gate is to reduce the level of the noise - that is, make the amplitude less - that is, make the amplitude in dB more negative. Does that help?

If the track is mono, then isolating the vocals is near impossible.
