... My phone is a Cisco IP Phone 7940 Series. And, my laptop disk has plenty of space, so I don't think that's it either. Thanks for trying to help. It's maddening.

I want to use the "Effects" dropdown, but every option there is faded out (gray) except for "SC4..."

This is annoying.

Core Audio needed to adjust? Sorry, I can't help with that (I don't see that issue on Linux). Perhaps worth raising that as a new topic on the Mac OS X board. Not worth the trouble. It's probably only on my system. And I don't know anyone else ...
