So there is any other solution? Just in case I got this completely wrong, does the noise disappear when you shout? Have you tried that? Perhaps you could post a short clip of you saying something "really loudly" (with the recording level adjusted to suit). I tried with different usb cable...

Question on decreasing a level in just one section
... loud. I know there's a way to squash the section to reduce the level but for the life of me I can't remember how to do this. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks in advance, Roger :oops:

I actually thought i was more louder than him. I am almost sure Listening to your jkgl.wav sample, your voice sounds like you are almost whispering. Try recording yourself shouting as loud as you can (adjust the recording levels so that the recording does not distort). Listen back to it and I bet t...

it is recorded when i was near to mic. How near? What is the distance between the front* of the mic and your mouth? Note that this type of mic picks up from the "front" not from the "end" - in other words it should be mounted vertically. The guy in this video has just a bit of n...

Hi Gale,
Yes I just replied to you and your suggestion solved the problem. I changed Directory Preferences to put Audacity_temp into a different folder and all is well again.
I have some new Maint software which i think was hacking at the Temp folder as you said. Many thanks for your help.
