... there are the few bona fide plug-ins with info in the description field, etc. I should mention that reinstalling Audacity doesn't seem to help. I had occasion to do that last week, but the issue continues.

You will have to explain this to me please 
And, yes, I prefer SDC's over LDC's for voice overs, narration and other vocal use. Less white noise, higher output and less room problems, imho.

Track won't play back when i press record
... press record the above track doesn't play at all? When i press play the track playsback but when i record the track remains silent. Thanks for any help
