... it 2 days ago does not guarantee that you have the current version (it depends on exactly where you downloaded from). Look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity" for the exact version number. My version 2.1.2 just downloaded and it is the same as before through Audacity.

... However, when I save without the minus sign, still no sound in Audacity. Other apps are no longer affected tho... Relaunching Audacity doesn't help. A trip to System prefs, then playing audio in another app (browser with Youtube, fi), does help. Now I know why Audacity seems to disturb Core ...
