Thank you Gale for your answer. I just want to be of any help. I tested this Audacity.exe on Windows 10 and it works (again I have to install vc_redist.x86.exe separately), this time missing MSVCR140.dll and VXRUNTIME140.dll. Never mind, maybe this time ...

... libraries are needed from VS 2015? Microsoft has two separate redist files for VS2015: vc_redist.x64.exe and vc_redist.x86.exe. If that is to help, you want the x86 for a 32-bit computer. You did set the VS2015 Platform Toolset for XP, I suppose? Audacity does not officially support VS2015, ...

I did Transport > Rescan Audio Devices
I have connected the microphone to #1 and #2
Audiobox is still not recording.
Your help is appreciated as I can do any voice over auditioning at this time.
