It always helps to tell us which version of Audacity you are using. Please see the pink panel at the top of the page. Please tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). What is the make and model number of the mic? Have you turned off Windows recording enhancements ? These can be a source of volume fluctuation. Are you recording one track over playb...

Did you fill up your hard drive?
