Is there absolutely nothing that can be done to make the narrator's voice more audible - noise removal or some other effect? Even slightly better clarity would certainly help.

You need to check the terms and conditions of any site you attempt to download from. You may be able to find ways to dump the RTMP stream such as with VLC or rtmpdump.
