I think you're too close to the microphone. Your P sounds are popping. That's not a room echo problem.

Let's say no. The panels in your post are about a foot square and to take out a wall for sound interference, you have to cover it. Audacity does not apply effects in real time, so Audacity cannot help you with this. However, as you are on Linux, it is possible to use Jack Audio (http://www.jackaudio.org/) as your sound system, then route the input signal through any Jack aware effects ...
